President Duterte is not lifting martial law in Mindanao before his State of the Nation Address on July 24. The 60-day period of imposition of martial rule in the south ends on July 22.
Speaking at the Region 11 Tactical Operations Group in Iligan City, the Chief Executive said any decision to extend or lift martial law in Mindanao depends on an assessment by the military and police.
The Supreme Court in its July 4 ruling mentioned the possibility of extending martial law beyond 60 days. – Business Nightly, ANC, July 7, 2017
